Music collab - 100/100 squares done!

In this collaboration, we'll draw a pictures of our favorite music makers in square illustration. It can be anyone from a band, to a classical composer to a soundtrack specialist!
You have a lot of choices... The Beatles, Taylor Swift, Bach... It's up to you! When we're done, I'll make it into a snazzy timeline.

Our goal is to reach 100 squares, so don't hesitate to sign up!

OH! And I need all the help I can get promoting the collaboration, so if you want to, go ahead and tell your DA friends about it in your blog! Thanks in advance!


Your image must be in the shape of a square. Your final image size will be 500x500 pixels.
  The following information tags must be across the top of your square in the following order, left to right:
1.) Band Name/ Name
2.) Years Active (as a musician. This info can usually be found very easily at wikipedia. If your person is still making music, write a questionf mark or "present". For example: 1980 - ?? or 1980 - Present)
3.) A song/piece title. Preferably one of their most popular ones so that even if the people looking at our collab don't recognize the person, they might be able to recognize the song.

Even though your final image will be shrunk down to 500x500 pixels by me once you turn it in, feel free to submit a bigger picture as you please. Just as long as it's square in shape, I'm fine.

If you don't have a way to measure out the specific dimensions, don't worry! As long as you make your image a square, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to change the dimensions and make it fit for you. No worries!

Anyone who makes/made music for a living is just fine. But, don't pick someone who was, for example: an actor who turned singer, unless they ended up being a more popular singer than an actor.
Examples of music making people: Bands, Singer, Violinist, Pianist, Composer, etc. I think you get the picture.

You can make the person /people fit into your image however you want. Full body, bust, etc. Doesn't matter to me!

You're not allowed to make your artwork on lined/graph paper.

You can't manipulate actual photos of your person for the mural. All your work should be your own!

It'd be best if you made your picture in color, just so our mural looks super-snazzy. But, if you're a great black and white artist, go ahead.

Don't genderbend or pervert your chosen artist in any way. We're paying homage to these people, not making fun of them!

Keep your image PG-13. No nudity, gore, fetishes etc.

If you're in a band, I'm sorry but you can't sign up for yourself.

Any visual medium is fine: drawing, painting, sculpting, cosplaying etc. Unfortunately for writers, I'm not sure i can think of a way for you to participate. ;_;

If you decide to depict a band, but don't want to draw all the members, feel free to just do a few.

We are allowing multiple versions of artists. Example: After The Beatles broke up, John Lennon went solo. So, we'd accept either version.

You can only sign up for one square at a time, and you'll have exactly one month from when you signed up to finish. If you fail to turn it in, then it'll go to the "suggestions" listing below, and you won't be able to sign up for them again for a week. So, it's definitely best you finish your picture because someone can snatch up your artist during that time.

You are allowed to do up to five squares by the end. But remember, you're only allowed to sign up for one at a time.


Like I wrote before, your image must be in the shape of a square. If you don't have the ability to measure out a perfect square, don't worry about it! As long as it's in the general shape, I'll be able to fix what needs to be fixed in the computer.

To sign up, all you have to do is comment with the name of the music person you want to do!
OH. And if you decide on a band, please give me the band name and not one of the person's name to spare me confusion. (Unless you're signing up for someone who went solo after a band broke up.)

The sign-ups are first-come-first-serve! Be sure to get who you want before it's too late!
