Tars Tarkas and Solaby *Zimeta

A quick entry into the Father's Day contest at:

One of these days I'm actually gonna try and make a win-worthy picture for the #Disney-club. Hehe.
Being a fan club, your art's gotta be decent AND be of characters everyone knows in order to get a good placing.
But, I love drawing underdrawn characters. I can't help it.

Probably because when someone finds your art and shares in your love of the more obscure characters, it kinda feels like a prize in itself!

Anyway. This is Tars Tarkas and Sola from John Carter. Which was based on my favorite book ever, A Princess of Mars.
Disney did SUCH a good job creating the Tharks for the movie. And Willem Dafoe as Tars Tarkas? Holy crap, yes.

This is really great!

The world needs more Thark art! Tars Tarkas was my favorite character from the movie, the animators and DeFoe did an awesome job of bringing him to life. I found myself really interested in the Tharks and the culture the film portrayed. I wish the rest of the movie had been as good. The movie, on the whole, wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. I recently found that the library in town has a lot of the series, so I can't wait to read them!

Anyway, about your piece: I love the simple, warm colors you used here, they work really well! Great job on the linework as well, you captured their characters perfectly.
Keep up the good work!
