Still got one section left of this chapter! (Didn't I say it would be a long one? )
Even though Willard only exists in the story through flash-backs, who he was and his death are pretty much what's driving the story. It's kinda fun to drop in little dialogues about him here and there, just to get a sense of him.
It's good William's comfortable with Sonya using Williard's things. One thing I noticed after a death in my family is a reluctance to use or throw away the belongings of a loved one who's passed away. After my grandmother died, my mother (the daughter of the grandmother who died) received a box of garbage bags from her, but we weren't allowed to use them until about a year after the death. The day my mom decided to use up the trash bags and throw them out when they were full was a huge step forward for her. If a person could get so sentimental over trash bags, I can only imagine what that must be like with paints and canvas. But I suppose it's different, since those things probably aren't just going to be thrown away when they're finished with.
